Common service questions we hear

Why does my "check engine" light come on?

In a perfect world, you'll find that a check engine light may be caused by a loose gas cap. It's obviously one of the easiest car problems to remedy without spending too much time, but many modern vehicles are equipped with capless fuel fillers. A check engine light can be caused by a faulty oxygen sensor, bad spark plugs or a faulty mass airflow sensor. While the repair might be minor, it's recommended to bring your vehicle to a dealership to have the problem diagnosed. If your check engine light has come on, our technicians would be happy to take a look. Visit our Salem service center today.

Do I have to have my vehicle serviced at the dealership to have it covered under warranty?

The short answer is no, but we encourage it. Items such as oil changes, tire rotations, brakes, and other routine maintenance can be performed outside the dealership and will not void your factory warranty. It's worth noting that you may need to provide records of maintenance should something mechanically fail that is covered by your factory warranty if the maintenance wasn't performed at the dealership. The dealership will have permanent record of your maintenance on file and ensure certified technicians and the most current tools and computers are used to diagnose and repair your vehicle. There are cheaper alternatives, but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for". Schedule your service visit with us online.

How often should I have my oil change?

Most people believe they should change their oil every 3,000 miles. This was true many years ago and may still be applicable for older models, but with improved technology in today's vehicles and enhanced quality to car engine oil, most vehicles can go at least 5,000 to 7,500 miles between oil changes. If you're a high mileage driver you may want to consider using synthetic oil as this can allow you to drive 10,000 to 15,000 or more in between oil changes. Schedule your oil change with us today.

What's the point of a tire rotation?

Tire rotations may be the most neglected of all routine maintenance tasks, but what is it? And why do vehicle manufacturers recommend it? Tire rotations are a way of managing tire tread wear - the grating, scouring, and scraping that happens to your tires' tread while carrying your vehicle over roads and rough surfaces. During a tire rotation, each tire is moved to a different position on your car's axles, like moving the front right tire to the back left position, for example. This shuffle helps your tires wear more evenly and last longer saving you money in the long run. Get your tires rotated at our expert service center in Salem.

Our service center: Where you and your Hyundai are our top priority

At Hyundai of Salem in Salem, NH, we're committed to helping you keep your new or used Hyundai in first-class condition. We know that regular, factory-recommended maintenance is the key to helping your Hyundai Tucson or Hyundai Elantra give you many miles of reliable performance. The highly-skilled, factory-trained specialists in our service center give your vehicle expert service and genuine Hyundai OEM-quality parts.

Why regular oil changes matter

Your Hyundai Santa Fe or Sonata is a highly-engineered machine that can flourish when it gets the right kind of maintenance. But the engine in any sedan or SUV is subjected to a relentless barrage of tiny dust, dirt, and grime particles. These microscopic airborne enemies can find their way inside your Hyundai's engine just through the normal course of driving around Nashua or Manchester, NH. A regular oil change is what turns the tide.

A regular Hyundai oil change: Out with the old, in with the new

Your engine oil is doing its job when it gathers up all that gunk in your engine and sweeps it away from those critical engine components. When you schedule an oil change at our Key Hyundai of Salem Service Center, our knowledgeable technicians drain out the old fluid and fill your engine with fresh new lubrication. We recommend getting your oil changed at least every 7,500 miles if you use today's more refined, longer-lasting synthetic oils.

Outstanding tire care: It's just how we roll

Your tires are the only thing between you, your family, and the road. That's why it's so critical that you're driving on first-class tires that are in first-rate condition. At Key Hyundai of Salem, tires are one of our most important specialties. Ask us to check your tires, including tread depth and wear, with every oil change. When you need new tires, we install familiar brands like Continental, Goodyear and Hankook in a variety of price ranges.

Hyundai accessories: High quality and just the right fit

Want to take advantage of your Hyundai Tucson's towing power to make your next vacation something special? We sell genuine Hyundai accessories like a Tow Hitch Ball Mount Kit. Talk to the seasoned specialists in our parts center about a T2 Classic Thule Bike Carrier. We'll help you find the right Thule Snowboard or Ski Carrier, or help you buy a Thule Hull-a-Port Pro Kayak Carrier. In other words, we offer great investments in family fun.

Ask us about complimentary maintenance on new Hyundai models

Because Hyundai and our dealership believe so strongly in getting a good start on regular maintenance, we offer complimentary maintenance on new Hyundai vehicles. The offer applies to new 2020 - 2022 Hyundai models purchased or leased after February 1st of 2020. Hyundai will pay for regular, factory-recommended maintenance for up to 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. And the price? How does "nothing" sound to you?

We'll help you save on the cost of keeping your Hyundai fit

While our service promotions change at various intervals, it's worth checking our service specials to discover ways you can save on the cost of maintenance and repair. To help keep your Hyundai in top mechanical condition - and to get more from your investment in Hyundai - we invite you to schedule regular service and maintenance with us. We look forward to taking great care of you and your Hyundai SUV or sedan soon at Hyundai of Salem in Salem, NH.
